Vessels stranded on the beach in Anegada
On the 30 August 2010 Hurricane Earl struck the British Virgin Islands, a devastating storm that passed close to the island of Anegada and wrecked havoc on the local community. Once again Security on Sea sub contracted the diving and worked closely with Commercial Dive Services to dredge channels out to sea and re float the stricken grounded vessels. The first of three vessels surveyed was "Lady Lyn" divers dredged the sand from within her hull dewatered and dug a trench out using a combination of a 6 and 4 inch dredge and excavator.
The biggest of the vessels "Basic Lady" a 46 foot sport fisherman was stranded up alongside the hotel bar and was holed by gabions and rocks that she was perched on. These rocks were jetted out and a pool was made to float and rig lift bags to the hull thereafter and once floating she was pulled by the CDS work boat out to sea via a channel which divers had made using the sand pumps. She was then maintained overnight and towed to Virgin Gorda for haulout and repair.
